SPEAKER BIO

Nina is a seasoned startup executive who has started, built and scaled several early-stage companies.


Nina is currently an advisor and consultant focused on strategy, operations and finance.  She primarily serves tech startups and in-house entrepreneurial efforts at Fortune 500 companies.   She also launched a passion project called Bookshelf Builder, a recommendation site for children's books, and is an investor in and advisor to several startups in Toronto and NYC. 


Previously, Nina was the COO of Spatial, the hottest augmented reality company globally.  Prior to that, Nina was the CEO of Fon US, a worldwide leader in the crowd sourced WiFi space; the Founder and CEO of Blu Trumpet LLC, a mobile advertising company incubated at IAC (acquired by Breaktime Studios); and the COO of BumpTop (acquired by Google).  Prior to her C-level roles at tech companies, Nina was a VP at Merrill Lynch in their technology investment banking group and started her career at Microsoft. 


Nina has an MBA from Harvard Business School and a Bachelors of Electrical Engineering from the University of Waterloo in Canada.

Helped build the VC-backed augmented reality startup from 2 to 12 people, oversaw seed rounds and prepared company for Series A, handled all legal, finance and operations matters.  (Was also an angel investor.)

IMAX LABS

Strategy Consultant

Advised on how the in-house incubator could be set up, structured and managed.  Helped identify Lab director, set up compensation structure, set mission and defined goals for the Lab.  Bridged the needs of the corporation and the startup community.

MOVILE

M&A Consultant

Ran an M&A process for a collection of mobile apps for the Brazilian mobile giant.  Prepared materials, defined buyer targets and executed diligence and acquisition process.
